IIT Madras (Chennai) has been brought in by the Integral Coach factory in Chennai to design solar pow- ered AC train bogies – coaches that will draw power from the sun for interior lighting and cooling. Although the project will take a while – a Government tie up with a premier technology institute to develop solar powered coaches is very positive for things to come – our express trains could finally be moving forward in the right direction! Most importantly, its green, clean, and totally high-tech – you can look forward to one really nice ride.
