In the midst of the horror and tragedy of the Uttarakhand, we have seen extraordinary heroics and efficiency from the armed forces and other relief & rescue teams .The IAF (Indian Air Force), has just pulled of the largest chopper rescue in history. IAF managed to recruit eight choppers with forty-five pilots and send them to Dehradun to rescue 19,000 people. It was extremely difficult because of narrow lanes and stormy weather. Despite all these troubles the eight choppers managed to collect 19,000 elated passengers, and transport them to safe locations. And although many were still left behind, the way the operation was conducted, and the number of people saved, in spite of weather, is amazing.
